This post was removed from Reddit, so I decided to post here:

The “Sale Months” for my songs between Sept 2019 – April 2020 didn’t get reported to DistroKid from TikTok until July 2020.

The “Sale Month” of May 2020, my songs were reported to DistroKid in August 2020.

The “Sale Month” of June 2020, my songs were reported to DistroKid in September 2020.

The “Sale Months” for my songs between July 2020 – August 2020 didn’t get reported to DistroKid until October 2020.

August 2020 – September 2020 sale months, didn’t post until April 2021.

So, I’m not really sure on the payout timeline…it ranges from about 3 months – 7 months, so keep checking your DK “bank” page after the 3-month time period.

Just looking at 1 line of my data, a total of 155 streams paid out to be $1.029988398365 — that’s about $0.00664508644 per video.

Based on previous Reddit threads and articles I’ve read, TikTok doesn’t pay you per view/like on someone’s video…they pay you based on how many times an individual creates a new video using your song. Some of my songs have been used with users ranging 12k-100k likes on each post, but TikTok would only count that as 1 video….I wished they paid out per view/like. I don’t believe that’s DK’s fault–I love their service and have been it using for some time now without any regrets and they keep updating their platform. I believe the payout schedule solely relies on TikTok.

In the future, I do see TikTok music artists coming together to negotiate that streams should be paid out on a view/likes basis vs. the amount of videos that uses your song.

Hope that helps! I’m still waiting for my payouts from sale months October 2020 – June 2021
